"The Mediterranean Garden of Roquebrun, was created in 1986, it is nestled under the watchtower of the medieval village of Roquebrun. It offers the most important collection of succulent and exotic plants, living in a natural environment, in the department of Herault. The botanical path, representing the local flora, numerous varieties of mimosas, as well as a Mediterranean orchard complete this garden"

The museum presents the Neolithic furniture discovered in caves in the Saint-Pons region, including the Resplandy cave. A major site of recent European prehistory, the Camprafaud cave is explicitly detailed (ancient Neolithic to ancient bronze). Showcases with clear explanations, models, videos and documentary film allow a free visit. A large table showing the location of the Saint Ponian and megalithic sites occupies the educational area. The strong point of the museum is the staging of the menhir statues in an original sound and light show.

The Museum of Archaeology and Paleontology of Minerve invites you to a real journey back in time!

Created by local scholars and inhabitants of the village, the museum of Minerve presents numerous fossils collected by Jean Miquel de Barroubio. It also bears witness to human settlement in the valleys of the Cesse and the Brian, and in the Minervois, since prehistoric times. Flint tools from the Paleolithic period, Neolithic pottery, ornaments from the region's dolmens, everyday objects from the time of the Gauls to the Visigoths, as well as ceramics and glassware from the modern era, reflect a rich history. On the first floor, an exhibition retraces the excavations carried out during the renovation of the ramparts. Thanks to more than 6000 objects collected, the archaeological operation has delivered exceptional results shedding light on the history of a site that is more than 6000 years old.

The space of discovery of the underground environment gathers an important collection of materials and original objects of the underground conquest. The formation of cavities and concretions is explained. Immersed in this universe, you will discover the origin of the abysses and the fauna, now extinct, which haunted our caves. A true initiation to scientific caving accessible to all.

Medieval history of the village

The CRDM is a cultural association of popular education whose activities concern archaeological research, the management of a museum and a deposit of excavations and animations for the general public and schools (outings, conferences, mosaic and ceramics workshops, etc.) Its collections are composed of material dated from the Paleolithic to the Roman period. The CRDM also has collections of minerals and fossils.

In the elegant, well-lit display cases, one can observe a superb and rich collection of Trilobites from the Montagne Noire found around Berlou. The oldest ones date back 600 million years. Then come exceptional pieces of ferns extracted from the mines of Graissessac, then fossils from all over the world, fish, insects, leaves, feathers... and dinosaur eggs found near St Chinian.
